Biography:
Prof. Weidong Zhangg, a distinguished scholar at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, serves as a doctoral supervisor and holds prestigious accolades including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (NSFC Outstanding Young Scholar), the Chang Jiang Scholar (Ministry of Education), the Humboldt Research Fellowship (Germany), and the Shanghai Outstanding Academic Leader. He currently directs the Shanghai Higher Education Institution Engineering Research Center for Marine Automation and chairs editorial board positions for both Acta Automatica Sinica and Ocean Engineering Equipment and Technology. Professor Zhang received his Bachelor of Engineering (1990), Master of Engineering (1993), and Ph.D. (1996) degrees from Zhejiang University; after completing postdoctoral research at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1998, he joined its faculty, attaining professorship in 1999 and appointment as doctoral supervisor in 2000. His international research engagements include working as a Humboldt Research Fellow at the University of Stuttgart, Germany from 2003 to 2004, and as a Visiting Professor at Princeton University, USA from 2007 to 2008. His primary research focuses on intelligent control theory and artificial intelligence theory, with applications in unmanned systems. His scholarly output includes one English-language monograph, over 200 SCI-indexed publications, and 62 authorized invention patents.
